The Sub/Conscious Meanderings of a Design Philandros

Swipe Saturday 5

Jeff Nishinaka uses paper in the most incredible way to make finely detailed bas relief type sculptures. Simple amazing. As a graduate from Art Center College of Design, he studied illustration and developed a deeply personal relationship with paper as a medium.

I wanted to manipulate paper in the least invasive way, to keep the integrity and feel of it. Paper to me is a living, breathing thing that has a life of its own. I just try to redirect that energy into something that feels animated and alive

Remarkable detail and lighting gives this paper sculpture life

Amazing! Beautiful. The white is so crisp and the embossed details are fantastic.
