Niels Shoe Muelman, aka Calligraffiti rocks at blending the sophistication of calligraphy with the raw abrasiveness of graffiti. This style is only one specific type of work that he does, but it’s worth calling out. To see more, there’s a great showcase here.





*So technically this post isn’t about type, it’s about calligraphy, but very few people understand the difference—just know that they are and that I do.
Vitra has always held a special place in my “wish I could have it” folder. And the new Prouvé RAW series has me gunning for it. A marvelous blend of contemporary industrial materials with mid-century modern sensibility. Now if only my bank account could manage the expense.








It’s that time of year again, and this year’s class is getting lots of attention—with good reason. Every year I anticipate the graduate work from the Type]Media program at KABK and every year it seems the work gets better. With a fancy new website using Colin Ford‘s Civilian.

Capturing a single beautiful frame of a dancer is a difficult thing, but even more difficult is conveying the “quality” of the movement. These photographs not only have beautiful stills of the movement but help viewers feel a little more about the movement.
